Councillor Derrick Jamieson
Born in Royalton, NB, Councillor Derrick Jamieson grew up on a farm in Falmouth, NS and has lived and worked in BC, NB, PEI, Quebec, Ontario, Truro and Berwick, NS. He has moved to Berwick 3 times, the most recent being as a retiree and now lives in the Town of Berwick with his wife, Lynn. Derrick and Lynn have three adult children, Erin, Adam and Robyn and 4 grandchildren.
Councillor Jamieson has a Degree in Agricultural from the NS Agricultural College (now Dalhousie) and MacDonald College of McGill University. Early in his career, he had been employed at Farm Credit Canada before returning to Berwick to work with MW Graves. Derrick then worked with the NS Farm Loan Board and was the CEO for 10 years. After working for 33 years with the Province of Nova Scotia he retired from his position as an Investment Director with Rural and Economic Development and Tourism.
Councillor Jamieson is a retired Professional Agrologist and has volunteered with the Agricultural Institute of Canada Foundation and other agricultural organizations. In 2017 he volunteered as treasurer of the Berwick and District Refugee Settlement Group, assisting refugees in coming to Canada.
In the fall of 2020, Councillor Jamieson was elected to serve on Berwick Town Council. He has been selected to sit on the Community Land Trust Committee, Valley Waste Resource Management, Regional Emergency Measures Advisory Committee, Valley Community Fibre Network, and chair the Audit Committee.
Derrick enjoys travelling, camping, gardening, swimming, reading and spending time with family.
