Notice of Public Hearing- March 20th, 2023

Notice is hereby given that the Berwick Town Council will hold a Public Hearing concerning an application to enter into a development agreement with Apple Valley Foods Inc. regarding lands at 245 Commercial Street (PID 55238844) to enable a boarding house to accommodate up to 12 people.

Also to be discussed is an application to enter into a development agreement with John Foster regarding lands at 131 Foster Street (PIDs 55237044 & 55535173) to construct a 12-unit residential development within 6 buildings on a central shared private greenspace.

The Public Hearing will be held on March 20, 2023, beginning at 6:30 pm in the Council Chambers, 236 Commercial Street. If you are unable to attend the Public Hearing but want to make a written submission, please email or drop it off at Town Hall before 4:00 pm on the day of the Public Hearing.

Proposed Municipal Planning and Land Use Bylaw Amendment

There are two proposed Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw Amendments up for consideration currently.

Mighty Metal Roofing Limited submitted an application to amend the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw to permit a two-unit dwelling at 149 Cottage Street, the site of the former Rebekah Lodge. The Town is seeking input on the re-designation of the property from Institutional (I) to Residential (R) and a concurrent rezoning from Institutional (I) to Residential Two Unit (R-2).
Robert Woodworth submitted an application to amend the Municipal Planning Strategy and Land Use Bylaw to permit a carriage house in a Residential Single Unit (R-1) zone. The Town is seeking input on possible amendments to the Municipal Planning Strategy that would allow Accessory Dwelling Units in the Residential Single Unit (R-1) and Residential Two Unit (R-2) zones.
The Planning Advisory Committee will hold a Public Participation Meeting on February 7, 2023, beginning at 6:30 pm, in Council Chambers, at the Berwick Town Hall, 236 Commercial Street, Berwick, NS.

Public Hearing for Land Rezoning December 13th, 2022

There will be a public hearing regarding a proposed land-use rezoning at 124 Orchard Street in Berwick.

Request for Proposals- Berwick Boxcar Project

The Town of Berwick is seeking proposals from experienced and qualified proponents to complete the design/build of access to, and interior finishing of, two recently acquired boxcars as part of the Boxcar Revitalization Project located in the Town of Berwick at the Mill Street Trailhead.

Holiday Parade Registration Now Open!

Registration for this year's Holiday parade is now open! 

If you would like to register a float, an application can be picked up from the Berwick Town Hall front desk. Alternatively, you can access the parade application form  pdf here (213 KB) . Email  or call 902-538-8068 ext. 4019 with any questions. Please return filled out applications to Town Hall no later than Friday, November 18th by 4:30 PM.

Berwick Town Council Size Review

Every eight (8) years, all municipalities in Nova Scotia are required to review their council arrangements. For Berwick, that means assessing the number of members on Town Council and determine the appropriate number to serve the community for the next eight (8) years.
 
Currently, Berwick Town Council consists of seven (7) members: six (6) Councillors and a Mayor.
