Berwick, Nova Scotia
Chairman Gary Whittier is pleased to announce the inductees for the 2025 Berwick Sports Hall of Fame Induction and Recognition Ceremony, which will take place on Saturday, June 14 at the Berwick and District Lions Hall.
This year’s inductees have each made significant contributions to sport, and their stories continue to inspire others in our community.
Central Kings Senior Girls Track and Field (1952–1953)
This team was the first high school girls’ team to represent Central Kings in inter-school competition. Competing without a proper running track and with no role models to emulate, these trailblazing athletes not only broke ground for female sport at Central Kings but also set a standard of excellence that inspired future generations.
Mike Landry
Mike Landry is a talented multi-sport competitor who achieved success in hockey, basketball, baseball, and golf. He played at high levels in each sport, golfed in two Canadian Amateur Golf Championships, and caddied at professional golf tour events. Off the field, he coached numerous teams and played a major role in building sport within the community.
Kings County Royals (1999–2002)
The Kings County Royals were a standout female softball team whose strong playoff performances led to three provincial gold medals and one silver over a four-year span. Their success earned them a spot at the Eastern Canadian Championships, and they also took part in the Montreal International Cooper Fastball Challenge. The Royals were known for their determination, skill, and the high level of play they brought to every competition.
Joshua Spicer
Joshua Spicer is an award-winning figure skater who represented Nova Scotia at the Canada Games and trained extensively at both provincial and national levels. He went on to perform professionally with Disney on Ice and Holiday on Ice, bringing his talent to audiences around the world. Now based in Stockholm, Sweden, Joshua continues to contribute to the sport by coaching young athletes internationally.
Christian Vogler
Christian Vogler found success in Tae Kwon Do, but his greatest achievements came in baseball, where he competed at a high level with an impressive playing record. After injuries shifted his path, Christian turned to coaching, eventually working as a development coach with the Boston Red Sox organization.
The Induction Ceremony will be held at the Berwick and District Lions Hall. Doors open at 6:00 p.m. and the event begins at 7:00 p.m., with a reception to follow. For those unable to attend in person, the event will also be streamed on Facebook Live.
