Volunteer Recognition Nominations

Did you know that April 17th-23rd is National Volunteer Week for 2022?

Berwick is known as “the little Town with a lot to offer”, and this is made possible by our incredible volunteers. They are always hard at work behind the scenes and never ask for recognition. However, in September, Berwick will be hosting a volunteer recognition ceremony to celebrate them!

If you know anyone that makes Berwick a better place through their volunteer efforts, let us know by nominating them! Nominations will be accepted from now until September 1st, 2022. Find our form by clicking pdf here (49 KB) , and fill one (or more) out today!

Public Information Meeting on Finances

On April 7th, we held a public information session here at Town Hall. The financial future for Berwick was the main topic of discussion, and Berwick’s budget information was presented.

In case you were unable to attend the session, the information that was discussed last evening is available by  pdf clicking here. (3.39 MB)

Public Information Meeting

The Town of Berwick has received an application from A&J Balcom Holding Inc to permit the development of an additional 20 apartment units at 135 Foster Street. The applicant is seeking to build two additional buildings: an 8 unit building and second building with up to 12 units.

The Town will be holding a Public Information Meeting (PIM) on April 5th at 6:30pm in the Municipal Council Chambers. The PIM provides an opportunity for members of the public to ask questions and for the developer to provide a presentation. We encourage anyone interested in this potential development to attend the PIM. The PIM will be followed by a Planning Advisory Committee Meeting.

Any feedback provided by the public will be considered by the Town during the approval process.

Any comments or questions can be directed to or 902-698-7526.

Thank you.

African Heritage Month 2022

February 1st marks the start of African Heritage Month in Nova Scotia.
Here in the Town of Berwick - we will be raising the Pan-African flag and proclaiming February to be African Heritage Month in the Town of Berwick, celebrating the diversity our community has to offer while recognizing the work that needs to be done.

To recognize that February is African Heritage Month in Nova Scotia, the Pan African flag will fly in front of Town Hall for the next 28 days.
We are learning more about African Heritage ourselves this month, and wanted to share what we've learned about flags!
The Pan African flag is a tri-color flag that consists of three equal horizontal bands colored Red, Black, and Green
Red: the blood that unites all people of Black African ancestry, and shed for liberation;
Black: for the people whose existence as a nation, though not a nation-state, is affirmed by the existence of the flag;
Green: the abundant and vibrant natural wealth of Africa, the Motherland.
Here in Nova Scotia, we have an official African Nova Scotian flag that was designed by artist Wendie Wilson. A great video from Wendie Wilson, explaining the background of the African Nova Scotian flag can be found here:
